"Savor Your Senses" started in 2009, while Elaine was performing for friends at home. In preparation for an upcoming Carnegie Hall concert, Elaine and her husband, Kevin, had groups of friends over to hear her play through pieces and have some wine. Between selections, questions were often asked about the music, its history, how it made people feel, etc. During these discussions, Kevin would re-fill glasses, take wine requests, and give drink recommendations. The combination of guests talking about how the music made them feel, and deciding what wine to drink, eventually led to Kevin offering thoughts on what wine would "match" the piece that would be heard next. A "bubbly" Chopin Etude inspired a pairing with Prosecco, and a softer, sentimental movement from a Rubinstein concerto inspired a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo...
Purposefully matching music and wine together resulted in even livelier, fun, and enlightening conversations about these two art forms, and how they fit together in each piece. At the end of the night, after 5 or more piano/wine pieces, everyone became a genius!
It was a beautiful, organic process that highlighted connections, built relationships and heightened friendships, all while enjoying a symbiotic, music/wine experience in an intimate setting. Savor Your Senses was born.
In April of 2010, Elaine took this concept to a recital platform, hoping to reach/entertain/educate/connect/inspire all those who want to enrich the quality of their lives by opening their senses to unique and meaningful experiences.About Elaine:
